SHANGRILA RESORT
GETTING TO SHANGRILA RESORT
We
travelled from Islamabad to Skardu nonstop for almost 18 hours. In my opinion,
travelling to northern areas of Pakistan during the monsoon season should be
avoided because there are chances of landslides, which will not only serve as
an obstacle to the travelers but are also very dangerous. The good news is
that new roads were built last year despite the Jaglot-Skardu route's
decades-long bad condition, and as a result, a complete carpeted road has been
established that can easily accommodate a typical two-wheeler vehicle like
Toyota, Honda, or Suzuki. During the trip, the Jaglot-Skardu route is where you
will have the most adventure; the difficult terrain will surely give you an
adrenaline rush.
SHANGRILA RESORT
The
first landmark we see as we enter the Skardu district is the Shangri-La Resort,
which is 15 kilometres before Skardu City. For entering the shangrila resort
there is an entrance fee of Rs1000 per person. The shangrila resort's beauty is
greatly influenced by the lake there.
The
magnificent Shangri-La Resorts are unique. The division of the hotels and
resort at Shangri-La is distinctive. There are 60 well decorated rooms with all
the necessary conveniences. On the other hand, there are presidential suites,
VIP suites, lakeside cottages, and Swiss chalets. Each of which is distinctive
in its own way. The Swiss Cottages, for instance, have two bedrooms and an
attached bathroom each. Each room in the six cottages is connected to the
others through hallways.
Similarly, the entire lake is covered by the Lakeside Cottages. Through the window, one can see the alluring views of the lake. 40 cottages—single to double—are equipped with all the necessities, including a phone, TV, room service, and laundry. The VIP Suites are the next, and they have a magnificent sitting space and two double bedrooms. The presidential suites are last but certainly not least. Two presidential suites with cutting-edge designs are available which include three bedrooms, a nice dining area, and a sitting area. area
MY EXPERIENCE
When
we first saw the beauty of Shangri-La Lake, we decided to visit and reserve the
lakeside resort for a day. We estimated that the rental would cost a maximum of
Rs. 30,000, so when we went to make reservations, they informed us that the
resort would cost approximately Rs. 75,000 for one day. This was quite shocking
to us but after looking around and seeing just how stunning the resort, its
view and the amenities were, we decided that it was all worth it.
UPPER KACHURA LAKE
The
following morning, after spending the previous night at Shangri-La, we travelled
to upper Kachure Lake, one of Skardu's most picturesque lakes. Shangri-la is a kilometer
away on foot. In contrast to Shangri-La, it is a lake of considerable size.
Mountains around upper Kachura Lake, enhancing its attractiveness.
Trout Fishing
The
most popular sport in Upper Kachure Lake is trout fishing. Trout farming is
well-known throughout the area. The preference of people is to catch fish from
lakes, cook it, and enjoy it while sitting by the water.
