 Madaklasht (History and Geography)

Madaklasht is small town located at the distance of 40 kilometers from Chitral city which is the last village of Sheshi valley. The town is primarily inhibited by Tajik people who speak Madaklashti, a language of Persian. It is said by the local people of the town that 7 people came from Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Badakhshan to Chitral to produce firearms for their kingdom. They stayed at the different district of Chitral until they found a place called Madaklasht and finally settled there. Now the town had a population of more than 4000 people and still speaking its native language.

Tourism

If we talk about the tourism, most of the people in Pakistan are still unaware of this beautiful place and town of lower Chitral. Even I did not know about this place myself but one of my college friends belongs to Madaklasht town and he invited me and my friend and then finally we have been there in January 2020. We went to Madaklasht in cold and harsh weather and the reason behind this was that I born and grew up at Karachi and I have never seen snowfall before that is why we decided to go in cold weather to enjoy the snow party.

We started our journey from Karachi as we were living there and came to Islamabad to leave for our final destination. Unfortunately, the people or residents of Karachi’s are deprived of winters me and my friend stayed only one night in Islamabad and we were feeling very cold here and I  told to my friend sarcastically that what will be our condition or situation in Madaklasht town?

Then we started our journey from Islamabad towards Madaklasht town Chitral at night. I usually fall asleep while travelling so, when we reached to upper Dir which the city of upper Dir district of KPK my friend woke up me suddenly it was 3 o’clock in the night and told me that look at the snowfall when I looked outside the window it was snow everywhere and an amazing view. It was as if everything was covered with sheet of ice.

Finally, we reached to Dorosh at 5 o’clock which the district of Chitral we stayed at hotel so that by then our friend would wake up as he was waiting in Madaklasht town. We got in touch with him on call at 8 o’ clock morning he guided us how to come to Madaklasht town.

Dorosh to Madaklasht town took 4 hour by jeep and I cannot describe in words how difficult the path or road was it was full of adventure. There were tall mountains everywhere and the river was flowing through the middle and snow was falling along with it it was an amazing experience and finally we got there.
